About this centre
Located in the Chinatown district, Chinatown Complex Food Centre, also known as Blk 335 Smith Street, is Singapore’s largest hawker centre and one of its most culturally significant food destinations. Opened in 1983 as part of the Chinatown Complex development to rehouse street hawkers, it was built to preserve traditional food heritage in the historic district. Today, the complex comprises about 703 stalls, including more than 260 cooked-food stalls offering one of the widest selections of Chinese, Malay, Indian, and regional Chinese cuisines in the country. After a major upgrade in 2008, the centre was refreshed with improved amenities, increased seating, and an architectural style that blends strong Chinese influences with modern elements. Its bustling, down-to-earth atmosphere, concentration of heritage stalls, and nostalgic charm continue to draw residents, office workers, and tourists seeking authentic, time-tested hawker flavours.
