I really loved going to this place! I visited late last week. I actually heard about this place from the Ghib Ojisan YouTube channel, in a video where he visited some hawker stalls selling food that is less frequently found in hawker centres. I had a chat with the uncle before ordering. He is such a nice man. I mentioned that it was my first time eating wa kueh. He then explained every ingredient to me in detail, which was really kind and helpful. The flavour was absolutely fantastic. The steamed rice cake had a great texture and delicious flavour coming from the shrimp and mushrooms. All of the toppings (the thick sauce, the chilli sauce and the garlic) were all packed full of delicious flavour and combined really well with the steamed rice cake. I really loved the wa kueh here! I would love to visit here next time I'm in the area.

I happen to chance on this stall when I was at Kreta Ayer hawker centre. Interesting concept of using chee kuek concept enlarging it dribble with secret soya bean paste sauce chilli n fresh minced garlic. The taste was a flavour bomb. Enjoyed it very much

SO SO SO GOOD. Everyone needs to try this! Uncle is super friendly and when I told him it’s my first time trying it, he took time to explain to me on how to eat it. Pairing it with the chilli, garlic and sauce is so FLAVORFUL + SAVOURY. I really enjoy the taste. 👍🏻

Recently watched a documentary about Quan Zhou introducing their local street delights. Coincidentally my friend recommended this Wa Kuih which is exactly the same as what I’d watched. Never see and eat this in Singapore but it’s been around more than 40 years I guess as my friend said he has it since young. It’s like Chui Kuih, the texture, as they are made of steamed rice flour. The first few bites can only taste the jelly liked texture. Subsequently, the aromatic savory little shrimps and fried onion appeared. The brown sauce added extra unnamed flavor. With chilli and garlic, the taste is leveled up to the max! This Wa Kuih is rare nowadays and this store still keeping to its original recipe.

1st time trying Wàh Kuìh and it is oddly familiar! Definitely a traditional dish that is not often found anymore. The sauce is reminiscent of Yong Tau Foo or Chee Cheong Fun brown sauce, and the kueh is like glutinous rice cake with fried shallots, dried shrimps and mushrooms. The addition of raw garlic paste and chilli really gives a boost of flavours to the sauce. Would like it if it is served hot on a bowl rather than a plastic bowl...
