About

Old Amoy Chendol is a homegrown dessert brand built around a family recipe passed down through generations. Named after the founder's grandfather, who once sold chendol from a pushcart along Amoy Street, the brand has since expanded to multiple outlets across Singapore while continuing to focus on traditional preparation methods. Known for its handcrafted chendol, the dessert features freshly made pandan jelly, coconut milk, gula melaka, and red beans served over shaved ice. Many of the ingredients are prepared from scratch daily, giving the dessert its distinctive flavour and texture. Old Amoy Chendol remains a popular choice for those looking for a classic and refreshing local dessert.

Located within Chinatown Complex Food Centre, this place is easily accessible by bus or MRT (Chinatown stop). As the food centre is not air conditioned, it can get pretty hot. Pro tip is to try to look for a spot where there are fans cooling down that area if you are not a fan of the heat. The staff is always friendly and they accept payment in cash or e-payment. This chendol has been my go-to chendol for a number of years now. Everytime I visit Singapore, this is a must that I will not miss. Without fail, each time it tastes as good as I last had it. It shines with rich fragrant flavours of the gula melaka, coconut milk and chendol (pandan taste and smell comes through). The texture of the Chendol is soft but not mushy nor does it have any hard bits - cooked to perfection. The shaved ice is pretty fine, which makes it very pleasant to consume although it does melt very fast in the Singapore heat. Another pro tip, when you are done, do remember to take your tray and bowl to the tray return area. I highly recommend this place for chendol. In fact, personal preference, I liked this chendol more than the ones I have tried in Malaysia recently.

20251120 - popular chendol in chinatown complex. There was no queue at late night. Chendol was not too sweet and comes with good serving of ingredients. Nice to have especially when the weather is hot as a after meal dessert.

a huge hawker centre makes this place a bit hard to locate but it was worth it because the chendol is superb. the actual chendol (the green jelly bits) in most places are tasteless but the ones here were flavourful. on top of that, we had just the right amount of coconut milk and gula melaka. so far every visit (3 so far) has been great. highly recommended.

The lady selling the Chendol was very friendly. I asked for no red beans, but she mentioned that her red beans are really good cause they’re sourced from Japan, not China. She encouraged me to try some and gave me a smaller scoop. I enjoyed this bowl of Chendol, the red beans were indeed pretty tasty. But I think their gula Melaka wasn’t as strong as say power Chendol’s

Old Amoy Chendol is, in my opinion, the most delicious among all the chendol stalls I have encountered in Singapore. Every component of their chendol is thoughtfully sourced and meticulously handcrafted. The red beans are exceptional, and the chendol strands have an ideal texture — soft yet slightly pasty when pressed between the tongue and the roof of the mouth.
