Had a $5 plate of duck rice and topped up duck liver and pig skin for an additional $2. The liver is cut thin which is quite strange because it doesn't offer a full mouthfeel. It's a little tough too. Pig skin is nicely braised and soft. Rice is cooked till soft and has good flavour. All that said, my main contention with this duck rice is the duck. As you can see from the pic, the slices are chopped rather thinly. Although this is common among many teochew duck rice stalls, I seriously think that it is just not enough for a $5 plate of duck rice. Admittedly, $5 is not pricey for duck rice at all considering the prices of everything this day and age, but when you are served 5 thin slices of duck on a bed of rice, you just start to wonder whether it actually makes a difference serving the duck. To be very frank, I think if one had the duck rice without duck, the dip in level of satisfaction would not stray too far. It feels like a condiment that is served mainly for textural contrast because the meat just tastes dry and rubbery. The braising gravy they pour over and the chilli served on the side is much needed for this. The menu board could also be categorised because it can be quite a read.

First time trying this stall. They are tucked at the side of the complex. For $9.50, I got a bowl of kway chap, a plate of braised duck with the kway chap ingredients; they are well braised & the portions are just right. They sell separately as well. For those who like both worlds, try this stall.

Came as a family for dinner and we ordered from multiple stores for a mix of food. Thus ordered some duck portion and a mixed bento set just to try since I read about this stall. Teochew braised duck in general is lighter in dark sauce taste, and less sweet compared to other braised duck. Still, Teochew braising is fragrant with spices. Stepping up to the store, you can see from the menu sign while they are a Teochew Braised Duck and Kway Chup store, they present their menu and dishes in a Japanese setting with Bento sets and Ala Carte, repeating Japanese style many times. Which is probably why the Bento set came with a Ramen Egg or Ajitsuke Tamago, marinated hard boiled egg soft centred. The Bento set is great for a taste of everything. There's Pig Skin, Braised Pork Belly, Pork Intestines, Bean curd, Egg, Pickled veges and some duck. Though its quite little of everything, its enough for everyone to have a taste. And there's 3 balls of duck rice. Well Hainanese Chicken Rice made into Balls I knew but Duck Rice in ball is a first for me. Might be just a novelty thing and they alternate the balls with braised Daikon as a plating. The rice though is pretty flavourful. On the whole a nice Mixed Kway Chup set to share but I think its a little much too hearty meal for one person. Next the duck portion for 2 is a little average. The duck meat is tender but lack the taste and aroma of Teochew style braised spices. Good thing though is the chilli. The chilli is packed with umami and mixed with garlic vinegar, a Teochew favourite. Though we usually use that for fish. Nice blend at play. So in general this stall is better and first as a Kway Chup first choice, besides the flavourful rice.

Heard about the traditional duck rice stall. Wanted to try and eventually came. Had the $9 bento platter. The duck meat was dry. Tofu, taupok taste not blended in. Mei Cai nice, Soup delicious. Braised egg soft n good texture. Chilli has a nice tangy punch. The saucer of chilli was also hygienic and covered. Plating was well done. 3 balls of yam rice with fried shallots. There was also some Hae bee hiam that gives some spicy crunch. Pork skin was also good. Staff friendly and gave extra braised sauce when we asked for it. Food was a hit and miss, but being a first timer, I really had a hard time hunting. Had better duck rice. Although noted it is red zone and number 02-156 but was just going round and round. Went to Google for the seating map and noted it is near blk 4 sago lane, then I used Google to find blk 4's direction and it was the row facing blk 4 as attached to the map.

Shop owner is very rude when I hesitated when ordering and asked about the price of the duck rice. Totally ruin the experience. Have to order it to not disappoint friend who came from overseas to try. But at the end, the food was bad which added on to the lousy experience in total.
