I previously saw many people eating the food from this stall so I thought it would be safe to give it a try, but after eating it, I guess they were attracted by the price. I got a plate of roast meat, char siew and duck and it was only $8, and even came with a soup. However, everything was so average. The char siew was grey in the middle and tasted exactly like the factory made ones. The roast meat's skin was so hard and not crunchy at all.

Cheap and good roasted meat stall. I've heard that they can be quite impatient, but so far I've not had any issues. Like my point-point rice orders, I know exactly what I want, and state everything up front. I must have been trained by many years of ordering at busy stalls. The roast meats are quite good, with crispy roast pork and charred bits on both the roast pork and char siew. The roast pork has some parts that are a bit dry and tough though. The soup is light and not laden full of MSG either. The cost of mixed roast meat rice is $4 which is pretty hard to find in a central area anymore. On the downside, the meats are presented quite messily and the cucumber chunks (they don't qualify as slices) join in the mess. Not much rice either, although it is suitably dry with well separated grains (like in Hong Kong). I've had this for years, so it's not an isolated experience. It's just the way it is, whether it's during weekday lunch crush, or a leisurely Saturday afternoon.

Chinatown - Smith Street Market Outram Park Roasted Meat This store mainly visited by old people. Super old school, I bet that if you see the charsiew, you would probably skip the stall. I only ate it once many years ago and it’s was not very memorable. This time, I decided to revisit this stall with my lunch kaki. I know that the queue can get very long so I decided to visit the stall early. First, I ate the charsiew, it looked like the kind of charsiew that appears in the old school wanton mee, red and never charred. The moment it went into my mouth, I was totally surprised! The meat was so tender with the taste of charsiew sauce that is not overly covered by honey, the taste of pork still lingers on, ok so some people will call it the smelly pork smell, just a bit but not quite really smelly. Kekekeke. The rare occasion where I like my charsiew red. Then came the roasted pork, so crispy and a little salty. The duck was interesting. It’s a roasted duck that had meat tasting like a braised duck, I believe soy sauce might be his main seasoning, and it’s a mean soy sauce, I simply love it. So here you have it, old school roasted meat, never too charred, not a little bit pretentious and totally good old honest taste. And I spotted a char kway teow that I will soon try out. Chinatown market....never fails to surprise me!

Char Siew Rice. One of the best char siew in this huge hawker centre, remember to pair it with double boil soup from a neighbouring stall, their soup served in a small urn that is stored in a big urn is superb!.

This is the 2nd time the roasted duck meat ordered has a fermented taste and mushy texture (it tears apart when you put the chopstick to it). The char siew is still ok but otherwise for the duck meat.
