Overall 3.5 Visited around 6PM on Monday, November 17, 2025. Tried: Chicken rice with side order of bean sprouts. Food: Okay, nothing crazy, but not bad. You wouldn't regret going if you're too lazy to decide on a place. Service: Nothing standout-ish, standard hawker affair. This place was one of the few hawkers that popped up on Google search for 'chicken rice' on Monday night at ~6PM. The stall appeared to be a couple owned and operated place where one processes the customer’s orders and the other fulfills the orders. During my visit, it was quite evident that they had gone through more than a handful of chickens that day with a short line waiting for the few remaining chickens left hanging. The speed of the line effectively moved by the speed of the butcher and by the time I got to the front, ordered, and got my food, they were on their last 2 chickens. Onto the food itself, the flavours were very clean, almost too clean. The base sauces and chicken were a tad bit too light for my liking which made the chili sauce greatly appreciated--if not needed--to round out the experience. As well, the chicken errs on the lean and dry side relative to what I'm used to in North America where chickens are regularly juiced up which is hard to fault them for. That being said, I found the quality of the ingredients to be decently high especially given the price point. While the place wouldn’t amaze you gastronomically, it wouldn’t disappoint you either if you have a craving.

The Kampung Chicken is only sold in half or whole portions, so the standard $4 plate of chicken rice isn’t Kampung Chicken. I went with the regular $4 chicken rice—the rice was a bit dry, and the chicken wasn’t very tender, but thankfully, the sauce made up for it. For $4, there’s not much to complain about.

This is by far one of the best chicken rice I’ve tasted. They are friendly and they serve two types of chicken - the white skin and tumeric colored skin. We prefer the turmeric colored skin. Even the breast meat is tender. And the price is so reasonable. The chicken liver is only $2 a portion and it’s already plenty for 2 persons. The rice is fragrant and tasty too!! Can’t wait to go there again. They rest on Tuesdays. I confirmed w them.

We stumbled upon Teo Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice while looking for lunch at the bustling Chinatown Complex, and were immediately drawn to the stall by the long queue — always a promising sign. Curiosity got the better of us, and we decided to check it out. Teo Kee offers two types of chicken: the regular variety and kampong chicken, which caught our eye with its naturally golden-yellow skin - a sign of quality and traditional farming. We went all in and bought a whole kampong chicken for $30, and it was worth it. The meat had that distinctive kampong texture: firm, slightly muscular, and full of character. It's a far cry from the soft, mass-produced versions you often find elsewhere. The rice was fragrant, not overly salty but packed with flavor, and paired beautifully with the chicken. The dipping sauces - especially the ginger and the light soy-based chicken sauce - were excellent and added just the right kick to each bite. All in all, this was a great find. It's not flashy, but if you appreciate a good, authentic plate of chicken rice, this place hits the spot. Would return if we're in the area again.
