I was at Chinatown Complex to buy food from a stall that sells out before 8am. Even though this part of the hawker centre is not new to me, I was surprised to see how bustling it was in the wee hours of the morning compared to after 9am. This stall with a long queue selling laksa and prawn noodles caught my eye, and I decided to join the queue. Got large portions of the laksa and prawn noodles ($4). They also had $2 and $3 portions; I don't think it's possible to find such prices in other parts of Singapore now. I really liked the prawn soup, you could taste the effort that went into them. The laksa was a little too watery for me and not lemak enough. It also came with a lot of unorthodox ingredients that you wouldn't expect to find in a laksa, such as fried wanton, fish ball, chilli yong tau foo and fish balls. I think the stall is worth supporting because of their commitment to keep prices low for the old folks in the area, so manage your expectations for the taste at these price points.
