21 Aug 2025, 12.20pm. Overall 4 stars. Came specifically for their bolo bun and egg tart. Mixed reactions - the former exceeded my expectations, the latter let me down. Quite a wide range of buns and pastries on offer, considering they're a hawker stall. Prices start from $0.80, with most items at $2 and below. What I got on my 1st visit: - Bolo Bun Original $1.70 - 5 stars. This is the best bolo bun I've tried in SG, quality comparable to those good ones in HK. Flavour & texture both on point - the bread is soft & fluffy, mildly sweet, topped with the perfectly flavourful crunch of the bolo crust. Every bite was delightful. - Yam Bun $1.60 - 4.5 stars. This is basically a Japanese melonpan with yam filling. Bun texture is softer & lighter than their bolo bun, topped with the melon crust that's simply delish, & melon seeds. Loved the natural flavour of the yam filling, just wish there was a bit more of the filling and it was spread more evenly within the bun so that I'd get some in each mouthful. - Egg Tart - Original & Pandan $1.70 each - 2.5 stars. Flavour of the short crust pastry tart shells was ok, but the shells were too thick with uneven thickness, & a bit hard. Mouthfeel wasn't good as the proportion of shell to custard is quite high. Texture of the custard was OK, but lacked egg flavour, & too little custard compared to the shell. The pandan version was just a tad better than the original - light pandan flavour peeked out. Good size but just not satisfying. Stall owners are quite polite and friendly, and was informed that bolo buns and egg tarts are baked in the morning, and usually sell out in the afternoon, when I'd asked. Can send message via WhatsApp to check, the boss should reply when he's free. Will definitely patronize again, focusing more on their buns that are of exceptional quality & value for money. Do hope to see more variety of matcha buns (non salted egg) in future.
