Authentic Cantonese Porridge Worth the Wait Be prepared for a wait—it can easily be 30 minutes or more. But it's absolutely worth it. The young chef meticulously prepares incredible old-school Cantonese porridge with a variety of toppings. The incredible smoky, roasted aroma that fills the air is a perfect preview of the delicious, authentic flavor to come. Highly recommended for those who appreciate traditional craft. Boss owner was kind enough to offer to help clean the table with some cleaner liquid.

One of the most prized porridge offerings. The appearance can be misleading. No Q. Wow! However, once you place an order for porridge, the woman will inform you about the duration of the waiting period. This varies from 15 to 30 minutes. There are approximately 5 porridge stalls in this area, if you are unable to wait.

When they first opened a few years back, they were terrible. After years of Joe’s it just wasn’t going to cut it. The porridge was watery n they used frozen pre-sliced pork. A cardinal sin when you are operating above one of the best wet markets in Singapore. Years on and it’s a young guy manning the stoves. No idea what happened to the original guy who used to be a restaurant chef. I ordered the Premium Bowl w Egg for $7. It had lean meat, two types of intestines, cuttlefish, century eggs and liver. The consistency of the porridge is how a good Cantonese congee should be, creamy, and it doesn’t break down to a watery consistency easily. In that respect it was probably even better than its predecessor Joe’s Pork Porridge. Good amounts of ingredients and the taste was not bad. Two reasons why it didn’t score better. Too much MSG. And the liver was overcooked. You would have thought that they would have nailed this by now. Rubbery hard liver is off-putting. A fairer score would have been 3.5/5, just couldn’t give it a 4/5 as is.

The porridge here is truly cooked till you can’t see the rice, very soft and silky. I only tried the fish belly porridge and it’s delicious though it’s bony. Wouldn’t recommend to those who don’t like fish bones. I’ll try the others next time. But be prepared to wait for at least 25 mins for your porridge to be ready because they are so busy.

Excellent place to have your breakfast/ brunch / lunch! Porridge is definitely cooked till satisfaction and each individual bowl is painstakingly put under the hot stove under the careful eyes of the chef. You can order from the menu and add customisation for your porridge. My recommendation is to go for the old school style and add an egg. It adds on to the flavour of the porridge and gives an extra oomph to it. Expect to wait for some time as the chef cooks each porridge individually. You can order a coffee, sit around for a chit chat and wait for the porridge to be served. Then enjoy the hot porridge to your heart content.
