About this centre

Also known as Hong Lim Food Centre, this two-storey hawker centre in the Chinatown precinct is one of Singapore’s earliest and most iconic food destinations, established in 1978 as part of the government’s effort to relocate street hawkers from Hokkien Street and surrounding areas into a cleaner, more regulated environment. Surrounded by office blocks, heritage shophouses, and residential flats, it has become a popular lunch and dinner spot for nearby workers, residents, and visitors alike. The centre houses about 103 cooked-food stalls and 40 market stalls, offering a wide range of traditional and contemporary hawker favourites, including well-known dishes such as Bak Kut Teh, Crayfish Hor Fun, Curry Chicken Noodles, and Fish Head Bee Hoon. Renowned for its strong lineup of long-standing favourites and several Michelin Bib Gourmand–recognised stalls, it is common to see long queues forming throughout the day, especially during peak lunch hours, as diners gather for its diverse, affordable, and highly regarded food offerings.
