Don't be put off by the long queue; the elderly trio managing the stall work with lightning speed. As I arrived past lunch and many items were already sold out, so I settled for the Abalone Mushroom Prawn Hor Fun and added vegetables for $8.50. It has been years since my last visit, and I am happy to report that the Hor Fun is still the best I have had in Singapore. It is silky smooth, slightly chewy, and has a pronounced rice aroma. The generic factory-made versions sold elsewhere are simply miles apart. The sauce is rightly seasoned, but I like to add plenty of chilli sauce anyway. A slight disappointment was the prawns: they were fresh but were actually cold as it was not blanched before serving. Nonetheless, the dish was still above average. I will definitely come by earlier next time.
