Chai Kee Fish Soup

Finally get to try this delicious fish soup… Uncle extended opening hours till 4pm nowadays, probably due to the rising rental. I always ordered the $8 portion (1 size up from the smaller $5.50), have ard 8pcs of sliced fish n damn thick cut. You wanna eat more fish, just order at least $8 n no need to complain. 🤭

First time trying and it didn’t disappoint me. Fish was fresh and soup was great. I had their fried fish roe too.

Ordered fish soup for take away, still piping hot after a 5-10 min walk, soup is good, has homemade taste, can request to remove the shallot oil topping if you don't like it too oily but that really gives the dish another kick. Only thing was the cooking pot they used looked like the upper half was covered in rust/hardened food debris or burnt, hope they can replace the cooking pot every now and then...

Fish was fresh and soup was tasty, which was greatly enhanced by the huge pot of fried shallots that you can take as much as you want. The smallest bowl ($5.50) contained only four pieces of fish, so it doesn’t really fills the stomach unless you include some carbo.

parents brought me here years ago and i’ve been coming ever since, my fav fish soup! fish is always fresh, and they put minced pork into the soup to make it tastier. true hidden gem in this market
