Still hanging out at 531 Upper Cross Street Food Centre 😋 … today we tried Chuan Bee Lor Mee! For just $5, you get a bowl packed with goodness — braised pork belly slices, thick yellow noodles, crispy golden bits of flour batter (locals call it “zhi char zha you” / fried fritters), plus their two proud signatures: fried meatballs (juicy inside, crispy outside) and fried fish (lightly battered, still moist inside). You get two of each — shiok! The fun is really in the condiments… 🧄 garlic (oh no, better not talk too close to anyone later, they might faint 🤭), must-have black vinegar for that tang, fiery cut red chilli 🌶️, and their own blended chilli paste for an extra kick. Lor Mee comfort at its best! 🍜 #LorMee #ChuanBee #531UpperCrossStreet #HawkerHeritage #SingaporeEats #FoodieTrail #GarlicPower #Shiok Had the Lor Mee at Chuan Bee, 531 Upper Cross Street Food Centre — absolutely worth the $5. The highlight here is definitely their fried meatballs and fried fish (2 pieces each, crispy and flavourful). Bowl also comes with braised pork belly, fried batter crisps, thick noodles in rich lor (braised gravy). Condiments are the fun part — garlic (warning: social distancing required after 🤭), black vinegar (a must!), cut red chilli, and their own special chilli sauce. Everything together = a comforting, well-balanced bowl. Definitely one of the better Lor Mee stalls in the area! 🍜

Ordered the $5 portion for lunch. Added extra chilli and vinegar. The sauce is one the watery side, despite added chilli and vinegar it still lacks flavour. Can't really tell if the meat is dry in the meat balls or as others mentioned it was added with flour. No Braised egg here, the ingredient that was good is their braise pork which is tender and packs some flavour.

Tried their $5 standard version. It has meat balls, a piece of fried fish, and a piece of fried chicken amongst the other usual lor mee condiments. You need to add soy sauce, chilli, vinegar, garlic to your taste as the sauce is pretty void of all these spices, probably due to health promotions and to each personal preference. The stall is situated in the food center, so plenty of food varieties for the whole family or friends in case one wishes to hang out together for a meal.

Classic Lor Mee with garlic and vinegar. Taste is on point to the max. Pork belly was very well braised and soft with amazing fried fish and meatballs added too. Its a no frills, family-love kind of food that just makes your lunch time so heartwarming with the generous amount and a taste of authentic Lor Mee made with uncle and auntie's heart. Please support them and give it a try!

$5 lor mee! I was impressed by the amount of ingredients! Fried fish, meat ball, fish cakes, pork belly (lor ba), and topped with crispy bits! I wouldn’t say that it’s the best lor mee I’ve had, it’s old school, traditional and very worth my $5! Can use CDC 🙆🏻‍♀️ Not gonna lie, it’s one of my favourite go-to at HL now! They open early at 6am. PS. I don’t understand the hate of the meatball from other reviews 😆 I kinda like the texture
