After all the savory and spicy dishes at Newton Food Centre, Thong Lai Cold Drinks and Beer was the perfect place to grab refreshing beverages to cool down. Their calamansi juice, which they list as lime juice, was incredibly fresh and tangy, with just the right amount of sweetness. It was the kind of drink that instantly quenches your thirst on a hot day. The iced lychee was sweet and fragrant, with real pieces of lychee fruit that made it feel extra special. Both drinks were served chilled and complemented our meal wonderfully. The friendly service and quick preparation made it an easy choice for a refreshing break between all the food tastings.

Chilled Asahi beer at $10 a bottle, slightly higher than Kopitiam $8. Patrons paid for the ambience.

Uncle sells me a beer. Counts down change quickly, heads off. Waitaminute, he short changed me one dollar? I raise my head and look at him, he literally looks in my face with a hand in his pocket of coins, jingling them already. Nevermind. Was clearly intentional then and I won't come back.
