Seafood and Newton Food Centre are almost synonymous with each other. With many stalls to choose from, Alliance Seafood is recognised by its blue-t-shirt wearing team, dishing out plate after plate of steaming Singapore chili crab and cereal prawns amongst other dishes. Best for sharing, the dishes (rice, vegetables, seashells, fish, crustacean, poultry) come in different sizes and prices depending on your group size or the portion you want. The cereal prawns use chunky, juicy prawns that are coated with addictive fried cereal bits that leave you scooping up every last flake, enhanced by the aroma of curry leaves and a tangy sweet chili sauce dip. It is no wonder it is a hit with locals and foreigners.

Ordered the chili crab with mantou. Reasonable price compared to the bigger chains and it came to 61SGD. We got given two pairs of chopsticks and two gloves. Super yummy and staff were also friendly.

2025: Apparently, this is the chilli crab to get, glad they provide gloves. It can get messy. The crab basically gets liquefied into a soup and you use bread rolls to soak it up. Quite the flavour bomb. ****

I was only one person and it was boiling hot, so I went for something light. If you are with others, definitely order a variety of dishes and share. Located in Newton Food Centre and recommended by the MICHELIN Guide. I had two tiger prawns which cost 20 SGD per piece. Not cheap at all. I wanted to try it. Glad I did. The tiger prawns were nice and simple. I enjoyed it but don't think it is worth the price. Uncle who served me was very sweet and friendly.

Was craving for stingray so went to Newton Centre looking for one. The uncle manning the place is pretty nice and approached us with the menu. The fried rice is gooddddd. Ordered the small one, but it was still packed. Taste good as well with the right amount of salt. Cereal prawn is alright. Although I wish the prawn was already peeled cause the cereal just falls off with the skin lol. The stingray? Very delicious. The marinate's tasty and spicy! The texture is also good unlike other places that serves it a bit more gummy.
