Super delicious and flavorful wet hokkien mee (cooked with bee hoon)! The noodles soaked up the gravy perfectly and even after a long time of eating, the gravy didn't dry up. The chilli was seriously the best - right amount of spiciness with slight sourness and mixed in so well with the noodles. The chilli and lime combination was great! Ate everything off the plate including the gravy. The wok hei taste was too subtle and could be stronger which would have made this dish even better. Will definitely come back when I can!

One of the more expensive FHKM we had . For $9 , it comes with 3 prawns , one ring of sotong , and no pork slices? Noodles were tough on some as the noodles are pre - cooked and put aside .

"Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle ($6 (2p),9 (4-5p),11,15) Food is bland and not authentic. No prawn stock used to cook the HKM. Cooking style is not following proper recipe for HKM, i.e. it's more like friied beehoon with prawns added. Ditto for CKT and cockles sprinkled superficially on top. Yellow noodle's alkaline taste is still strong. Chilli is good and portion is ok for its price (e.g. 4-5p for $9 portion).. Extra scoop of chilli or pork lard or lime (50 cents) "

I don’t frequent Newton and just happened to pass by today at lunch time. Chanced upon this Hokkien mee stall that is unknown to me but decided to try so no expectations. And wow so delicious. This has got everything I wanted. Strong umami stock in the thickened gravy soaked up by the al dente noodles. Got wokhei. Nice chunky prawns. Crispy pork lard. Tangy chilli. Taste great all 3 ways - without chilli, with lime, then chilli and lime all in. Satisfying for sure. Shiok.

If you are at Newton food Centre and yearning for fried Hokkien mee, this one is not to be missed. The wok hei is good, and cooked till the broth is soaked into the noodles to give it that satisfying flavour. Taste wise, it is quite on par with a few other more famous ones, and I would say it will not disappoint at all if you crave for a good plate of fried Hokkien noodle. The chilli though spicy is a perfect complement to the dish. I saw that the Newton Food Centre will be closed from 1 Nov 2022 to 31 Jan 2023. So if you hope to catch them, you know what to do.
