❤️ Food sharing IG @ jkgourmets 😋 美食分享尽在 IG @ jkgourmets If you are fan of traditional Chinese Lor Mee 卤面. You will be probably confused by which stall to chose from. First of all, two very similar Lor Mee stalls in this hawker centre, and they are just nearby close to each other, one are facing main road, called Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee (XMX) 新美香卤面, another one was facing inner stalls which is Xiang JI Lor Mee (XJ) 香记卤面. Let's first talk about XJ Lor Mee, in fact, they are not the pioneer Lor Mee stall here, or another words, they are not the famous popular one. When their competitor XMX was the greatest one, their queue was long and loved by many. While XMX Lor Mee was still great and affordable and managed by family members. XJ Lor Mee was still under good impression with their decent ingredients, flavourful and cheaper in price. And today 2025 June, Old Airport Road hawker centre, after few months of renovation, the situation change. XMX Lor Mee managed by two young workers, some customers complained about their service attitude, some customers realize that their Lor Mee no longer that affordable, start from minimum $6 per bowl. As compared to XJ Lor Mee, they keep their price lower than their competitors, with minimum $4 per bowl, you still able to taste something similar. For me, their soup base still not as good as XMX Lor Mee but with the similar quality ingredients given, but $2 price difference. XJ Lor Mee seem winning customers heart as their preferred Lor Mee. So next time, if you have chance to try both under one table, do your own comparison. Make your own verdict, chose your own preferred Lor Mee. Recommended all to try both XMX Lor Mee and XJ Lor Mee.

Xiang Ji Lor Mee (香记卤面) at Old Airport Road Food Centre is a favorite spot for those craving a comforting and flavorful bowl of traditional lor mee. Known for its rich, dark gravy, the dish is made with a well-balanced blend of spices, garlic, and a touch of vinegar, giving it a slightly tangy and savory profile without being too heavy. The noodles are thick and springy, soaking up the luscious gravy perfectly. Each bowl is generously topped with tender braised pork slices, crispy fried fish, and a sprinkle of fresh coriander, adding layers of texture and aroma. What makes Xiang Ji stand out is the consistency and heartiness of their lor mee. The gravy isn’t overly starchy, so you can savor it till the very last spoonful without feeling overwhelmed. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, adding a spoonful of their house-made chili takes the dish to another level. Priced reasonably, it’s an excellent value for the quality and portion size. Whether you’re a fan of lor mee or trying it for the first time, Xiang Ji Lor Mee delivers an authentic, old-school Singapore hawker experience that keeps customers coming back for more.

First time trying this stall. They have $4 & $5, I ordered the $5. Special about this stall is one of their ingredient, fried fish meat which is different from the normal lor mee. For those who like chilli, do ask for their chilli paste & sliced red chilli. For $5 portion is enough for me & their ingredients are fresh, do pay them a visit.

One of the best bowls of lor mee I’ve had! Generously packed with ingredients — from braised meat to crispy bits and egg — every bite was hearty and satisfying. The sauce was flavorful yet not overly thick, with a well-balanced mix of sourness and chili that lifted the dish without overpowering it. Flavours were rich but clean. Definitely worth coming back for.

Not my first choice of lor mee in terms of ingredients, price and queuing time. But could be my top 2. Seems very starchy at first but after sometime it becomes a good consistency. The fish bits were surprisingly nice too as it was slight crispy. Same goes with the lor bak, very tender and well marinated. A lot of people order from this stall as compared to the other. I had it sometime back and it didn’t really leave an impact. Now I’m curious to try the latter for a comparison. 😜
