I had a craving for old school Fan Choy and chanced upon it at Rong Yi Local Handmade Pau located at the corner of the Old Airport Road Food Centre. Fan Choy is a traditional dim sum dish item consisting of steamed glutinous rice, topped with ingredients like char siew(BBQ pork), a sliced of hard-boiled egg, all steamed together to create a flavorful meal. While enjoying my brunch, had a conversation with the owner's children Jenny who is helping her parents. They have been here for more than 10 years and has a good following of customers from the nearby housing estates. I also observed they were very polite, the service to their customers is good. The stall is very well maintained and clean.

The big bao wasn’t great. Skin is too thick and the meat tasteless. The aunty manning the store is v nice though.

Been coming back to this stall for Char Siew Bau. Wife and I likes the sweetness in the pau. Some may consider it small but feels the right size for me. The filling is slightly sticky and char Siew sauce is more sweet than salty. The pau skin is also slightly thinner than normal ones. Good place if you want a quick or light snack. Quite satisfying.😋

Nice pau hawker stall in Old Airport Road Food Centre. This is the first stall visible in the hawker centre. Seems like it's run by an old friendly aunty. Ordered the char siew pau and the unique coffee pau. Both were good. The coffee pau leaves a nice coffee aftertaste.

If I could erase one hawker experience from my memory, it would be from this stall. I saw the recommendation from a seth lui list and I was excited to give these paus a try. But unfortunately, the auntie was an angry auntie. She gave me the wrong order, I wanted the char siew pau, pork ribs and coffee pau. But she gave me the #14 on the menu (on the topmost part of their signboard), and I had no idea what it was. So I asked what it was and said, I didn't order it. She angrily told me that I ordered that, which of course, I didn't, coz I was there to try the paus. So she returned my money for whatever that was and let me keep the other paus. And to be honest, I didn't want to eat those anymore so I insisted to return all the paus she gave me and asked for a refund of my money. Because who wants to eat food that was given out of anger right? After 3 attempts of asking for my money back and returning the paus, she finally gave in and told me to never come back to that stall which of course, I would never ever want go back to because as I said "Who wants to eat angry food?" No one. I talked to the auntie respectfully, by the way, I never raised my voice. A lot of people were looking, I guess the other stalls are used to seeing this.
