First time trying, at first I don’t get it why it’s so soft on the inside because I am used to eating crispy fried pig intestines that is crispy on the outside and inside. This one is really soft and chewy and melts in your mouth kind of inside, it’s slightly crispy on the outside. Most importantly, there’s not much porky smell or taste to it.

I dare to say it’s the best 炸大肠 in Singapore. I’ve been eating it for probably > 10 years and it still tastes the same. Crispy on the outside and soft inside. It literally melts in your mouth. Best eaten with porridge while I pair with my lor mee. Everywhere else that sells fried intestine their version is always so dry and hard to chew. This stall is so underrated - Why is no one talking about their fried intestine? It’s so gooooood. Highly recommended!

Bought the fried big intestine ($8) and prawn rolls ($4) for the first time. It will definitely not be my last! I am a big offal lover and i loved how the intestine tasted on its own, without any embellishment. I could imagine that with chilli, it would reach another level. The prawn rolls were full of filling and the crunch of water chestnuts lent adequate textural contrast. Both items were not greasy, despite being deep fried. I unknowingly paired the big intestine with my chicken rice and it tasted sooooo delicious! 绝配! Next time, I am going to have it with beer!

The only bakkwa I actually like, their minced meat bakkwa is extremely tasty with a perfect mix of savoury and sweet flavours, thickness is also perfect without being too thin or thick. It’s also grilled very well and way tastier than the other more well known brands in Singapore. The bakkwa at this outlet is actually better tasting than those sold at the main outlet at Serangoon Gardens. I consider New Eastern Kimtee as the best bakkwa brand in Singapore.

I got to buy one packet of 500g of their chilli bak kwa, and two packets of 300g of their sliced bak kwa. In the spirit of Chinese New Year I gave the chilli bak kwa to my girlfriend's family and they loved the flavour and gradual spice. The aroma of the chilli padi is fragrant. Our first time trying chilli bak kwa and we are not disappointed at all. Definitely buying more even in the off season. The sliced bak kwa is a thinner slice of bak kwa which allows the smokey taste to be more pronounced. I love the crispy edges and the barbecued taste is delicious. I highly recommend to buy loose pieces if you are nearby or having lunch at the hawker center especially if it is off the grill. Blessed enough to eat some off the grill and it is even more delicious. My family is usually not a fan of bak kwa but we devoured it all hahaha. Thank you for the service and Happy Chinese New Year to the Kim Tee team 👍🎊
