Bought this and Tian Tian at the exact same time and this won. I’m happy Tian Tian has had success in the past but seriously, don’t eat there. You should definitely go here instead. I’m not a local but here’s my take. Was it amazing and life changing? Not really. Was it good? Yes. Better than Tian Tian, 1000% - Better by a league. Tian Tian had cold chicken, served on bland rice, with a red sauce that had almost no flavor at all - just a verrry subtle hint of spicy. And it had a huge line. This place was infinitely better and had no line. The rice tasted yummy like chicken fat and was aromatic. The chicken was flavorful. And the red sauce was actually good - spicy and tangy. Plus it had decent ginger and soy sauces and you got a side of broth. Again, being honest, this was not life changing, but a good bite and this guy deserves a much bigger line! Please go and patronize him.

One of the most common hawker/coffeeshop food is chicken rice. Chicken rice is so popular that even some high end hotels offered this dish to patrons. Tian tian hainanese chicken rice needs no introduction. But today’s post is not tian tian but tian tian 吃 hainanese chicken rice, aka maxwell hainanese chicken rice. There are maybe 4-5 chicken rice stalls at maxwell hawker, including the famous tian tian and ah tai, the 2 more famous ones in the hawker center. So let’s give a chance to those less known ones to see if it is worthy of a mention. Maxwell hainanese chicken rice looks decent. The sauce and fragrance chicken rice is indeed something that is their unique selling point. I am sure if they are not located at this hawker, their sales should be higher. The rice is so nice that i can eat it on it’s own. The drum is not bad, can eat. But of course lose to tian tian lah. If not i think tian tian would not be so well known already. So if you happened to be there and tian tian happens to be closed, can consider this stall. It’s good enough in my opinion. #chickenrice

Absolutely delicious food, the rice had great depth of flavour, sweet but umami. The chicken was perfectly cooked, very juicy. The chili sauce was a good balance of tangy, but not too hot. Best of all, no line, this place seems to be seriously underappreciated - it could be because Google currently has a photo of the wrong shop as the main photo - Maxwell Chicken Rice has a Blue banner, as shown in other reviews

Best chicken rice I’ve had in Singapore so far. Line went down fast, service was good.
