I tried the lava bread previously but wasn't a fan of the pastry. I decided to give them another chance and try the tarts instead. I was supposed to get just one, but there were so many flavours available, making it hard to settle for one. So I went with Chocolate Banana and Matcha Cheese Strawberry. The total was $5.60. I enjoyed both immediately with my favourite coffee. I think they did a better job with the tart. The tart base was a softer type that's almost like a hybrid of bread and cookie. The Chocolate Banana pairing is perfectly sweetened and goes well with the soft tart base. The Matcha Cheese Strawberry was unfortunately underwhelming. The matcha taste could be more pronounced. Perhaps it's too challenging to blend three flavours in a small tart. I'll will come back to try other flavours next time.

Lava cakes were great! It's not so much a cake as a hollowed out 'baguette' with lava cream inside though. Had an azuki bean and a chocolate at the spot, made a humongous mess. Not faulting the shop, this could have been anticipated. It was nice. Cannot be microwaved, as the cream will combine with the soft part of the bread to form a sort of 'cake' like mixture.

Went into this thinking, ”how good can this be?” (afterall, i did know of it through social media) which made me pleasantly surprised after i ate one. Bought all the flavours for a family gathering and it was cleared. Okay i gotta admit, it was nothing mindblowing, more of a comfortable satisfaction after finishing one. As i tried a few flavours, one thing i realised was that it was ‘not too sweet’ and everyone knows thats the singaporean’s standard of a good dessert. Unlike its lava counterparts like the lava cookie, lava donut, lava cake, one thing that is common among the three is the excessive sweetness. Usually the vessel of the lava itself is already sweet, and when you taste it with the lava it gets too overwhelming and jelak fast. This however, although the lava was a substantial amount, the sweetness was dulled down by the baguette, which only role was to give some texture. This made the experience enjoyable and not cloying. The cheese tart and banana tart were enjoyable too, same concept, the middle parts were liquid-y and flow-y and the tart was a buttery goodness which made the whole thing pleasant. I would definitely patronise the stores if i ever pass them and am urging my friends to do the same too!

I chanced upon this stall in the basement of Golden Mile Food Centre after my lunch . I ordered an egg tart and a curry chicken pie to go. I finished them before reaching the bus stop. What I really liked about these pie and tart was the pastry . They were buttery and and had a nice texture to it. They were not flaky or hard. Will definitely come back again to try the other offerings.

Fresh makes really good tarts! Tried the Cheese Lava Tart, and it was delicious — thin crust with lots of creamy cheese filling 😋. Definitely going back to try their other pastries!
