This stall lives up to its name by offering incredibly fresh fish. While I originally planned to visit another stall, they were sold out early in the day. Fortunately, I decided to take a chance on this one, even though it had no other customers at the time. It turned out to be a fantastic decision! As I am on a quest to try the best Teochew style fish soup, I was surprised to have never encountered this stall before. They offer premium sliced fish like groupa, and I opted for a small bowl of sliced batang soup with Yee Mee and added bitter gourd for a very reasonable price of $6. The batang itself was deskinned, eliminating the strong mackerel flavour some might dislike. It was also fresh and lightly marinated, with a perfectly cooked texture I truly enjoyed. The broth here is a delightful departure from the usual Teochew fish soup. It's darker, richer, and boasts a subtle hint of sweet dates. If you have a bigger appetite, upsizing is definitely recommended. I'll certainly be back to explore other items on their menu.
