Tried the Hokkien Mee at Gim Chew today. It’s a decent plate if you prefer the wetter version, and I appreciated the addition of tender pork slices alongside the prawns. However, it was missing that signature wok hei (smoky breath of the wok) that really elevates a good Hokkien Mee. A solid, clean-tasting meal, but lacks that charred aroma I was looking for.

Love Love this Hokkien mee that is flavourful and even for takeout. This is definitely one of the traditional Hokkien mee style that stick to using thick beehoon noodles! Thin beehoon change the overall flavour of the stock. I have no idea why people complain about how the food was pre cooked, soggy noodles. The noodles stay flavourful even takeout means the uncle is skilful. Plus pls lah, uncle is old, given his age and still mending the stall, I believe his standard was way better in his golden years. I seriously hope I get to enjoy his cooking before he retired. Btw, service is awesome too. Once I was on the phone call and halfway I walked away before having the chance to give my order. By the time I am done with my call, the noodles is packed and ready. What a nice gesture to remember the loyal customers.

I personally like this Hokkien mee as it is not so porky & still flavourful. The chilli & the crackling pork lard on the side goes well with the dish. By the way the owner, Alan who serves the customers, is a friendly & bubbly guy. He welcomes you with his handsome smile which is irresistible. He & his team of cooks worked very well together for quite sometime to run this stall at Bedok Hawkers Centre. I highly recommend this Hokkien mee to those who will patronise & support their stall ❤️🥂

Noodles are okay, they are not fried individually and most chances you might be served noodles that were fried quite some time ago and kept in the wok and covered to retain the heat in the noodles. With this method, the noodles might taste soggy as it was being kept in the wok for some time. All in all, the taste of the Hokkien mee is okay with strong prawn taste but it can do better.

Service was good. Definitely not the worst hkm I had. Enjoyed it for a $4.50 meal. They were okay to handle cash and were not rude to me at all. 5star
