Ordered white rice leicha for $5.50. Pro Taste when scooped right. Maybe this might be a bit on the negative side but harmony of some ingredients or rather lacking in ikan bilis does feel as good. It taste very savory when scooped right. Cha is actually good enough to stand alone but with the saltiness of the ikan bilis is just make it all the more tasty. Cons Ingredient to rice ratio. I feel that it is more of too much rice. Rather than too little ingredients. Although I could be wrong0

Nice. Nostalgic. Warm and welcoming experience with the lady who was packing my order. $5.00 for ThunderTea (white rice). Also have fried hakka yong tau foo add ons and at reasonable prices. Will be back again. Lady mentioned that she closes at 7.30pm. 😋👍

The service and atmosphere were good. (5.50). However, the leicha soup is a let down unfortunately. It’s too salty and there are not enough herbs as it should be so the soup isn’t right. Everything else is okay - the vegetables, brown rice etc. but it’s a waste of money :(( if the soup is bad especially for a soup reliant dish like leicha.

This would have been my first induction into eating lei cha, or thunder tea rice. As such, my review is more a detailed documentation of my experience rather than a skilled review. I actually really love the leo cha here. Ordered the white rice lei cha ($4.50), felt a bit empty with no main dishes so ordered a prawn cracker for $1.50. The tea was a bit diluted, but possessed a nuanced nice earthy taste. It felt nice and not bitter at all. As for the ingredients, the whole thing worked well as a cacophony of parts. I particularly enjoyed the ikan bilis and peanuts, which served as seasoning and crunch. Other ingredients included some grain which added to the crunch, and green veg for a lighter feel. Overall, I enjoyed how the dish was light but also filling. Only qualm is that the prawn cracker was soft from sitting out for too long - I think a hot or crispy prawn cracker would have made all the difference. Still, comparing other reviews who, grading this on a thunder tea scale, would seem sacrilegious to rate this anything lower than a 5 stars. To be honest, I really enjoyed the induction into this long awaited dish, so 5 stars it is.

Hardly can find really good thunder tea rice nowadays and happy to chance upon this 6-month stall here. Brown rice ($5.50) and add tau kwa ytf ($1.20), portion of the thunder tea rice is generous. Ingredients all very fresh and crunchy. I also noticed the special dark green veggies added that usually not added elsewhere. What stood out and attracted me to try the stall is also the very beautiful greenish hue of the thunder tea. Such a generous serving. Indeed, the tea tasted so special and different from others. Very smooth and creamy till the very last drop, not overwhelming mint taste and no powdery residue at the bottom. So impressed, had a chat with the very friendly lady boss. She’s a Johorian Hakka and shared that she specially imported the dark green veggies from her hometown. Also an impressive array of Hakka ytf which is freshly prepared constantly. A truly authentic Malaysia style and my best bet for thunder tea rice by far! 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
