Tong Fong Fatt Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice

The reviews are true. Grumpy uncle. Who automatically assume you have the “bigger” plate of $5 chicken rice. And I also question myself if what I got was $5. How pathetic will the $4 plate be ? Rice is not cooked well with hard bits. Not even a tinge of fragrance. Meat was mediocre. Chilli packs no punch. Honestly for $5 and cheaper I can easily get a tastier plate of fragrant chicken rice. Overhyped.

05/07/2025. Asked for $5 rice to be taken away, to add liver and egg. And guess what, reached home, opened the pack and only to see rice n chicken. They charged me with the price of liver and egg???Come on!! Sell honestly and with dignity pls! So absurd and piss me off. If there is "zero" star that it is fit to rate your stall

Very very sad plate of chicken rice. The food quality and taste is almost non-existent. The chicken portion is so miserably small. They even try to flatten it to make it look like there’s a lot on the plate. Chicken rice chili feels so watered down, it’s one of the worst that I had eaten. The only thing worth mentioning is the rice, though it’s also average at best.

I’ve patronized this chicken rice stall a few times, but today will be my last. The owner is consistently rude and treats customers as if they owe him something just for wanting to eat his food. On one occasion, I asked where the ShopBack QR code was after they had moved it. Instead of a simple answer, he snapped, “Of course behind lah, everyone can see but you cannot see.” Another time, after showing him my payment screen, he rudely replied, “If you really pay, I can hear from the speaker, no point showing me.” Today was the final straw. There was no queue. We brought our own container, and while my partner was closing the lid, I stood just a few steps away to scan and pay via ShopBack. Suddenly, the owner yelled, accusing me of taking the rice without paying: “How can you take the rice and don’t pay?” We were literally standing right in front of the stall, within earshot. When I reminded him he had previously said payment would be heard via the speaker, he claimed the speaker system is now different—clearly just another excuse to lash out. It felt like he was looking for someone to scold. Frankly, the behavior was insulting and uncalled for. I’m shocked by the hostility when we were simply trying to pay and eat. Given the many similar complaints I’ve since read, it seems this isn’t an isolated incident. Unless you enjoy being berated before your meal, I suggest going elsewhere. The chicken rice is average at best—and definitely not worth the disrespect.

Despite the recent bad reviews, I gave it a try and found that the chicken rice was actually quite good. Skin was smooth, meat was juicy and sauce tasted just right although I hoped that the drumstick could be larger and the rice less dry. Also luckily for me, I didn’t experience the bad attitude of the stall helper.
