Dec24, there is 3 chicken stall in this row, one is a famous stall with LKY & LHL photo. ( I try before) so decided to try Thiam Kee which was very famous in the 70’s. I ops for the curry chicken bee Hoon, it comes with boneless slices of chicken, Tofu & 2 slices of cut dry tofu. The bee Hoon was generous with bean spout. The curry soup was very savour after a few spoonful, I liked as it was hot and the chicken was tender & delicious. Overall it was very good. Should try their chicken rice on the next visit. As it is a Sunday morning it was very crowded.

There are several chicken rice stalls in Ghim Moh Food Centre, and I chose the one with the shortest queue—it’s hard to go wrong with chicken rice in Singapore. This stall was no exception. The chicken rice was good and comparable to most other chicken rice stalls, but one level below the more famous ones.

There are many chicken rice shops in this hawker centre. First, the portion is good for $4. The breast meat was tender and the skin was smooth. Rice is the firm type, each grain can be tasted and is one of the less oily ones. The chilli (paste) is above average for sure, not the watery kind and packs a good punch. The cabbage soup that came with it tastes like the Katong shopping centre chicken rice soup which I have missed ever since moving to the West. Will eat this again when in the area. This aunty and uncle-run stall is certainly better than the other shop with the blue signboard which is part of a chain, where the uncles hustle you into getting the medium portion with so little meat.

We came slightly ahead of the opening time of 9.30am and wete greeted warmly by the elderly boss couple. Ordered a plate of chicken breast rice with additional meat, and kidney, topped with a plate of crunchy beansprout. The meat was tender, fresh, the rice not too salty but tasty. There was homemade ginger paste and chilli sauce to give the extra kick. Delicious!
