Exceptional carrot cake. The process is also beautiful to watch. There are two types of carrot (daikon: white carrots in Chinese) cake—both with preserved vegetables and egg, and one coloured with dark soy/sweet sauce. Do ask for the spicy chilli for the full experience

I tried the white carrot cake. The homemade carrot cake had a lovely moist and soft texture. It was fried to a nice crisp on one side and bound together by a generous amount of egg. The aunty grates the chunk of carrot cake into pieces and lays them on the pan to fry and crisp. She then pours a nice slather into of egg to hold everything together and then cuts them up into squares for serving. The wait isn’t too bad as they make them in batches. If you are lucky enough to join the queue when a fresh batch has been fried, the line moves quickly. Will be back to try the black version and part 2 of this review.

Pretty good carrot cake, but lacks wok hei. They only have white carrot cake (no black or yuan yang). $3/$4/$5 amounts. I ordered the $5 for breakfast. It was fried in a few bigger pieces rather than smaller pieces so it's easier to bite into with chopsticks. There was a line but it moved relatively fast. Accepta QR payment but not CDC /SG60 vouchers.

Best carrot cake in Singapore! The sons of the original hawker couple took over and has UP the level of their carrot cake! It’s even better than the original. So proud of this younger gen who has decided to carry on the hawker heritage with sheer hard work. Previous review a year ago: Husband and wife team. Wife cooks the white version: crispy, eggy and crunchy with cai po. Husband cooks the black version: sweet, salty and always evenly coated. Highly recommended to order with chili for both version. 20 years of cooking 1 dish definitely makes all the difference in taste and texture. One of the long-standing Ghim Moh market hawker legends!

Used to be my fav carrot cake, where I would happily travel from the east side to Ghim Moh just to have this for lunch. But ever since the old couple (Auntie cooks white, Uncle cooks black) are not cooking, the taste has changed tremendously. Just ok, nothing special anymore. Have to look for my next black carrot cake spot… so sad.
