Fu Wei Seafood Fish Soup

We spotted this quite new fish soup stall serving delicious fish soup in a prosperous looking golden bowl, got the vibe of Chinese emperor having lunch. 金碗吃了今晚希望会发财😀 We thought why not give it a try since it's quite reasonable and order a double fish soup for $5.50. Not only is the bowl beautiful, their fish soup is excellent. Soup is very flavourful with hint of sole fish and they added fried garlics into it and it's even tastier & unami. Their batang fish is very fresh, very thickly cut and the fried fish is quite meaty too. Other than fish soup, they also serve steam fish slices & red grouper mini steamboat for $10/$12. We must give it a try next time. Stall manned by 2 young owners and they work exactly 12 hours everyday according to Google. Respect!! We will be back to support! 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋

Friendly and attentive owner. Ordered fish soup take away on few occasions. The soup container always further seal with food wrap to prevent spillage. And the noodle was separately packed. Soup tasted good. Price was reasonable.

Had a great lunch! Ordered red grouper fish soup, fish is very fresh and clear soup is very tasty. Belacan chilli 👍🏻. Will try the hong Kong style steam fish next time.

Order a batang fish soup and it was fantastic. Soup was flavorful, with good depth from fried garlic and a tinge of umami from the sloe fish. Fish was very fresh and thickly sliced. Great for rainy weather!

Relatively new stall in Ayer Rajah Food Center along West Coast Drive selling fish soup. This one gives you a choice of staples like bee hoon (thin or thick), Yee Mee or Mee Suah, on top of plain rice. Ordered the $7 portion of batang fish soup. For fish soup, I only have three criteria. Soup must be full of umami. Fish must be fresh, the flesh very firm. And the chilli sauce should be belachan type instead of cut red chilli in soy sauce. Fu Wei met all the requirements. A little pricey cause for $7, you only get about 6-7 pieces of fish but I blame this on rampant inflation. The soup is clear and a real delight to drink. Add to rice and it becomes Teochew Fish Porridge. The belachan chilli sauce packs quite a punch too. Fish meat is so firm it doesn’t fall to pieces when you pick it up with chopsticks. Only when it enters your mouth. Recommended for those in the area. And now we have two competent fish soup stalls in the same FC!
